About
JustRunJustLiveJustBe is an evolution of a blog I began in January 2006. I started the blog wanting to talk about running but soon realized that I had a whole lot more to say. The old blog was called JustRun. JustLiveJustBe came, mostly, from what this blog’s content has turned into over the last two years. That, and if nothing else, running, living and being are what I want to do. Sometimes I might even do it well.
I live out West here in Colorado with my dog, Lola, and whomever else happens to be around. That is not like it sounds. I grew up in southern Colorado in a city where there are more cowboys than politicians, so far. There are also a lot of yuppies, mountain-loving folk and a lot of really great people, including much of my family. I work in “technology” (or so they say) for now and have more lofty goals than I probably ought to. I am a dreamer, what can I say.
As you might guess, I am a runner. I started running about six years ago when I got my first office job and spent six months on my butt. I realized that while there may be a proper age for everyone to become soft and maybe a little rounder, twenty-three was not it for me. My first run was in February, in the snow. I ran a total of about three blocks before turning around to go home. I was freezing and I couldn’t breathe. I trained the remainder of that winter on a treadmill in my house and completed my first 5K the following September.
Now, years later, running has brought me more than I’d ever imagined on that cold February afternoon. I’ve made more friends than I deserve, been to more places than a small-town kid could dream and have more goals than many people I’ve met. Now that I am a runner, I cannot imagine my life without it. Running and I fit very well- it never stops challenging me and I never stop obsessing about it. Or anything else, for that matter.
A few other facts about me and this site:
I began this site totally anonymous. It has since turned into one of the coolest experiences ever. Yes, ever. The blogging community has opened my eyes to a world I’d otherwise never have known. It’s full of some fantastic people with a lot to say. I also get some visitors that I know in my “real” life which used to scare me (hi, Mom!) but now seems pretty cool.
This site is powered by Wordpress and it’s theme was created by Delicious Design Studio and will probably tweaked all the time, because I have some major nerd tendencies but not always the brains to be useful. We are proudly hosted by Jasmine’s House, which not only has a really cute mascot but people behind it that have bigger brains, not to mention hearts, than I’ll ever have.
I love taking pictures. In early 2007 I got a Nikon D-40 which is truly the Everyman’s d-SLR. It’s helped bring my passion for photography to an entirely new level. Many photos posted on this site are edited in Picasa or Adobe Photoshop.
I love to cook and eat. I don’t do nearly as much of either as I’d like as a) you generally have to be home to cook and b) I don’t want running to become more difficult than it already is. But if you’d like to cook for me, or buy me lunch, or just give me any food in general, we should talk.
I love to travel. This is pretty obvious around here, probably via pictures or via me whining that I want to go to the beach. I always want to go to the beach. This, if you read even a little bit, will become annoyingly obvious as well.
I also write a little about friends, family, love, my dog and people I meet. If there’s any way you could possibly want to know more, try this.
Thanks for coming by.
